Description

The primary goal of the Fragrance Group is to develop fragrances for personal care products that enhance and support the concept and technology of these products. The Research Scientist position coordinates all required steps in the fragrance development process once submissions have been received (evaluation, coordination of testing, sample preparation, analyzing and summarizing data) as well as initiating fragrance briefs with the suppliers. 



Requirements

  • Technical fragrance expertise with a keen sense of smell and the ability to describe fragrances and odors – must pass odor test
  • Smelling materials, fragrance oils and products is a daily requirement of this position
  • Communication is clear, appropriate and well represented to supervisor, teammates and outside suppliers
  • Conducts all project developmental efforts as related to fragrance development (stability, support to Product Supply, etc) to include writing fragrance briefs, taking the lead fragrance role on projects.
  • Coordinates / conducts / reviews necessary testing with designated groups or facilities (internal or external). Analyzes data, interprets results and recommends modifications to the project plan. Prepares reports (technical / consumer / competitive) to contribute to project decision-making / implementation and with guidance, develops rationale for final fragrance selection/recommendation.
  • Maintains complete documentation for all projects
  • Evaluation of stability & compatibility samples
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, utilizing good judgment to set priorities, manage time, document work and maintain a safe, neat and organized work area.
  • Demonstrates working collaboratively within a project team and other R&D members
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point software for day-to-day activities. Ability to learn internal programs (SAP) for reporting stability results and internal PALM system.
